Community > Using these resources for Community Building
We envision many different ways these resources can be used for building community. We've tried to aggregate some of those below. Don't let the section headers confuse you -- each is in fact related to community building although they may not be what you expected to see.
- Personal Development
- Self Help
- Peer-to-Peer Support Networks
- Teacher - Student Curriculum
- Small Business Consulting
1) Personal Development
Our goal is to help you become a master of your domain and to help you become a member of a community that is filled with like minded masters. As the individual grows, so grows the group. If you can name any other single set of resources that is more comprehensive as it pertains to helping you grow as an individual engaged in commerce, we want to hear about it.
2) Self Help
With the dawn of the technology age and the waning of Babylonian times, the number of stress variables in play in one's life went up by a factor of 10. Regaining control over ones life after having become slightly lost might have shockingly positive affects on ones self image and ones inner and outer light. Mastering ones commercial endeavors might just be a great way to get distracted from some things that are less healthy. The goal here would be to replace bad habits with higher habits. As the individual grows, so grows the group.
3) Peer-to-Peer Support Networks
Often times, the greatest and healthiest support systems we can engage in are peer to peer support systems. Find others who are at a place in their journey that is comparable to yours, but who have mastered things you haven't and visa versa and trade time with each other to help each other grow. Use these resources as curriculum and/or a framework to have more engaging conversations to determine if you can assist each other in a manner that is needed by both. Peer to peer networks were not used in the recent past as much as they could have been, and they will become far more relevant in all future community building scenarios. Peer to peer systems don't aggregate power in single pyramids as our system today are organized, and peer-to-peer setups exclude a lot of nefarious activities which transpire in the teacher-student / leader-follower / pyramidal paradigm.
4) Teacher - Student Curriculum
We envision ways these resources can be used as curriculum for Teacher - Student interaction. Obviously, this need not be limited to a formal class room. Some of this could be used by Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups to teach financial responsibility to a rising generation. Some of this could be used by social fraternities and sororities to help them organize their business activities in a manner that is easier for older members to pass along the reins to younger members year after year. Recognizing when to lead and when to follow at a younger age (when to role play teacher-student scenarios as appropriate) is a great way to practice collaboration as it is needed to grow into a larger group.
5) Small Business Consulting
Up until now, it has been very, very difficult to receive and give small business consulting services at reasonble prices because of the number of foundational components that varied from one business owner to the next. These resources provide for a broad and detailed foundation that most small business owners have only dreamed of in the abstract before. Helping them get that foundation under them in a systematic manner is now more doable at a lower cost, and after a proper foundation is laid, it should be easier for both Small Business owners and Consultants to have value proposition conversations related to consulting support that were otherwise too complex to have without a common framework for business. No advanced community has ever been built without some model for commerce and thus you need both vendors and consumers versed in healthy commerce to build community.
