Community > Intro

Picture
There is safety in numbers, and there is power in numbers.

Collaborating and working together in the future is going to be critical for our success as a global community.  Most everyone but the crazies currently controlling our commerce and politics can agree on that.   But how do we (the generally less crazy) collaborate better?  How do we work together in a manner that is healthier than we have in the past, and how do we remove the crazies from the seats of power which we have created via vacuum during our explorations on our own merry way?

Technology people want you to think we need to collaborate on "everything" digitally, and as a digital person at my core, I'm just not feeling it.   I can see many benefits in digital sharing,  but in fact, I'm feeling the it's also becoming another trap that is different but similar to the one we've been enjoying since Babylon.

Question:  What is it that we need most to progress more as a community?

Answer:  A better understanding of who we are as individuals and what our true potential capacity is as an individual first and foremost...

Picture
You didn't see that one coming, did you.  That last thing most talk about when discussing community is focus on the individual -- and that is one of the reasons we are struggling to progress at a faster rate.

Learning to work by one's self to a far greater degree is in fact the key to learning to work with others to a greater degree and the reason is simple -- only one who can do many things by themselves is then capable of discerning the true benefits of collaboration and community, and they are the only ones who can then decide which collaborations are the ones to pursue long term.

Picture
Without realizing ones own true untapped potential to a far greater degree, community is formed around fear as opposed to positive desire and overall communal benefit, and fear based community building leads to a quagmire each and every time around.

So, how can one learn to work by themselves better in order to collaborate better together?  Well that's a simple answer -- by working with and learning from others!!!

Yes, it is a real chicken and egg kind of thing.

So, how can The 220 Club Core Resources be used for Community building?

  • Our material applies to nearly every person in some way or another, although it is targeted towards those who have already ventured out on their own from a commercial perspective

  • Our material provides a framework to an otherwise unorganized community of self-employed and self-motivated individuals in an attempt to create a community that can help its members grow as individuals, with the end goal being the development of new communities around otherwise disparate groups of individuals

Got it?  We hope so.

The Time is now...

As stated above, there is safety in numbers, and there is power in numbers.  Unfortunately, in numbers, there is also treachery and deceit.

A dramatic reduction in nefarious commercial games is something we dearly need as a global community at this point in time -- not only for ourselves as a human race, but for our animal kingdom as well as the little blue ball we all call home or Mother Earth.

We believe those who are more confident in their solo abilities will tolerate lower levels of treachery and deceit from others in our community, so our goal, first and foremost, is to help others increase their confidence and control as it relates to their own day to day life.  In theory, that increased level of confidence and control over ones own life will reflect out upon the world, making the world a better place one light beacon at a time.

1, 2, 3, n

Picture
1 -- Everything starts with you. Unless you are one part of Siamese twins, you were born alone.  Solitary.  A single digit.  Push yourself in a healthy manner to explore the extent of your abilities at all times.  Don't falsely believe that because others around you aren't doing something that you shouldn't give it a whirl -- but be wise enough to realize there are really good reasons why others aren't doing some things from time to time!!

Picture
2 -- When you are one-on-one with another person or animal, explore that time to the fullest.  This isn't limited to in-vivo experiences.   Reading a book or a website that was created by another is a great example of two individuals interacting in a mental manner.   Mix it up.  Don't rely on only one method for collaborating with another.  Learn the pros and cons of working with another and working solo, and recognize the changes that need to be made or sacrifices that need to be considered to optimize each situation.   If you believe you always work best by yourself, or that you always work best with another, you have violated the superlatives rule.   Figure out how to work with another as well as you can work by yourself in a diverse set of scenarios, and you will be on your way to learning more about community. Become aware of the increase in organization required to go from 1 to 2.

Picture
3 -- See what happens when a third voice or a third heart is dropped into a single or two person dynamic.  Recognize the strengths and weakness of this setup as compared to operating in a solitary manner or with only one other person.  Become aware of the increase in organization required to go from 1 to 2 to 3.  That is a big deal.

Picture
n -- n represents a number greater than 3 and less than infinity.   Scale up when the opportunities seem right.  Pay attention to the pros and cons.  Learn how to optimize for a given group size and never forget that scaling down and splitting up large groups to keep n down may be required for balance on a regular basis.   Become aware of the increase in organization required to go from 1 to 2 to 3 to n.  That is a HUGE deal, and recognize the times when organizational requirements nullify all collaborative benefits.

The path towards Community relies on individuals who have a healthy understanding of themselves along with an understanding of organizational changes that must transpire when individuals choose to collaborate in order to obtain a mutual benefit.
